Electrolytes are essential minerals that are vital to many key functions in the body.

SALTE contains 800 mg of sodium, 400 mg of potassium, and 60 mg of magnesium. Natural flavours and stevia are added to the flavoured variants.

1. 800 mg sodium – because most active, health-conscious people underdo sodium

Compared to many electrolyte drinks, SALTE has a lot more sodium, and that’s very intentional.

Two key reasons:

Sweat losses

• You lose roughly 800 mg sodium per liter of sweat – which is exactly what one SALTE sachet provides.
• Most mainstream sports drinks only give 200–300 mg sodium, which often isn’t enough for heavy sweaters, hot days, or long efforts.

“Clean” and low-carb diets = less sodium in, more sodium out

• When you cut out ultra-processed foods, you also cut out a big chunk of hidden sodium.
• On low-carb or ketogenic diets, lower insulin levels signal the kidneys to dump more sodium, increasing your daily needs even further.

So 800 mg sodium per serving is there to:

• Better match actual losses
• Support blood volume, nerve signaling and muscle function
• Help prevent the “washed-out” feeling that comes from lots of water + too little salt
  

2. 400 mg potassium – because nearly everyone is getting  too little

Potassium doesn’t get as much attention as sodium, but it’s just as important:

• It helps keep fluid balanced inside your cells
• It supports normal heart rhythm, nerve signaling and muscle contraction

Modern data show that most people fall below recommended potassium intake, even with a “healthy” diet.

That’s why SALTE:

• Uses a 2:1 sodium-to-potassium ratio (800 : 400 mg) instead of very low potassium
• Aims to support daily potassium intake with every serving, while still encouraging a potassium-rich diet (vegetables, fruit, potatoes, beans, etc.).

This ratio is chosen because evidence and practical experience suggest a 2:1 sodium–potassium balance is effective for hydration, rehydration and cellular fluid balance – not just “more salt”.

3. 60 mg magnesium – small dose, big role

Magnesium is involved in 300+ biochemical reactions in the body and many people don’t get enough of it.

It plays a central role in:

• Energy production and mitochondrial health
• Normal muscle and nerve function

• Electrolyte balance and reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  

Not getting enough magnesium can show up as:

SALTE includes 60 mg magnesium per sachet – a functional amount to support muscle function and recovery, while keeping the dose gentle enough for your stomach during training or daily use.

4. Built for both performance and everyday life

A key point from the formulation article: SALTE is not only for athletes. It was designed to:

• Support training, racing, sauna and hot days
• Help people who eat less processed food and therefore get less sodium by default
• Support those on low-carb, keto, or fasting protocols where sodium and electrolyte losses are higher
• Top up minerals that are genuinely hard to get in ideal amounts from diet alone (especially potassium and magnesium)
  

All of that in a formula that is:

Use it first thing in the morning, before, during, or after exercise, when dehydrated, or anytime you need electrolyte support. Keep in mind: it's more effective to replenish electrolytes ahead of time rather than trying to catch up after they've been depleted.

The Unflavoured version contains 0 kcal per serving.

Each of our flavored options contains less than 5 kcal per sachet.

Simply mix one sachet with 600-800 ml of water and give it a good shake.

New research indicates that 4–6 grams of sodium, 3.5–5 grams of potassium, and 400–600 milligrams of magnesium per day support optimal health, ideally from whole foods. SALTE helps cover any dietary gaps. Many find 1-2 sachets per day effective, depending on their activity. Start slowly, pay attention to your body, and you'll know when you've hit the right balance.

Maltodextrin is not part of the overall formulation; however, our natural flavours do contain maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is commonly included in powdered flavour formulations to improve texture and stability, enhance flavour distribution, and prevent clumping.

The amount of maltodextrin in one flavoured sachet is around 500 mg - and the unflavoured does not contain any.

To put this in context, 500 mg of maltodextrin in 0.5 liters of water corresponds to a concentration of 0.1% (0.5 grams per 500 ml), which will hardly provide any energy boost or significantly impact blood sugar levels.

The maltodextrin used is gluten-free, GMO-free, and derived from corn and potato (for the Apple flavour).

We understand that some people are concerned about the use of maltodextrin, and we recommend the SALTE Unflavoured variant.

In general, electrolytes with salt (sodium), potassium, and magnesium can be safe to drink during pregnancy, especially if you’re experiencing symptoms like dehydration, morning sickness, or excessive sweating. Staying well-hydrated is super important during this time.
